Eden Crafters Save Sharing - Continue the World Without the Host
Where does Eden Crafters store its worlds, and how do you hand one to another host? The saves folder, the cloud subfolder, and how to tell worlds apart.
Eden Crafters is about turning a hostile planet into something breathable - factories, atmosphere processors, an entire world slowly shifting from red to green. That progress is measured in dozens of hours, and in co-op it all sits on the host’s machine.
When they are not online, the terraforming stops. Here is how to move the world so somebody else can carry it.
Where Does Eden Crafters Store Worlds?
On Windows:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\.edencrafters\saves
Mind the leading dot on .edencrafters - it is the sort of thing that is easy to drop when typing a path by hand, and the folder will not be found without it.
Each world is its own folder, named world_<name>-<id>.
If the World Is Not There, Check the Cloud Folder
Worlds created with the game’s cloud option do not sit in saves directly. They are in:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\.edencrafters\saves\cloud
Check there before concluding the world has gone missing. This also matters at the other end: a cloud world has to go back into saves\cloud on the new host’s machine, not into saves. Put it in the wrong one and the game will not list it.
How to Tell Which Folder Is Which World
The folder names are not especially readable, and the cloud copies are worse - they run the name and id together with no dash between them.
The reliable check: open the folder and read worldData.json. The Name at the top is the name you see in game.
How to Share an Eden Crafters World Manually
- Close Eden Crafters on the current host’s machine.
- Paste
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\.edencrafters\savesinto your file browser. - Find your world. If it is not there, check
saves\cloud. - Confirm it is the right one by opening
worldData.jsonand reading theName. - Zip the whole world folder and send it to the new host.
- New host: unzip it into the same folder it came from -
savesfor a normal world,saves\cloudfor a cloud one. - They launch the game, load the world, and host. Everyone else joins.
That works. As a per-session ritual it wears thin, and it fails quietly when two people host from copies made at different times.
How SaveSync Handles It
SaveSync keeps the world folder current across every PC in the group automatically, cloud subfolder included.
- Click Eden Crafters in the list on the left to open its save management page.
- Click “+ New Save” (top right).
- Select your world from the dialog and click “Create Save”.
- Wait for the green checkmark.
- Click the share icon, search your friend’s Steam username, click “Share”.
- They click “Activate” - then they can host it and the world syncs automatically.
It keeps a full history as well, so you can see who uploaded what and when, and roll back a bad session.
Keep Terraforming
A planet halfway to habitable should not stall because one person picked up a night shift. Find the right folder, mind the cloud subfolder, and anyone in the group can take the next shift.
